Sophie Clews

Sophie is an emerging, self-taught artist born in England. Since moving from the UK to Australia, she has continued to expand her passion for the arts by undertaking her Bachelor of Visual Arts at Queensland College of Art and Design in Brisbane, Australia. Her practice blends photography and painting to explore themes of atmosphere, reflection, and memory.  Often drawing from everyday scenes, taken images, and personal archives. She focuses on highly detailed, realistic renderings by using photography, to construct elaborate and picturesque compositions that blur the line between mediums. Driven by a fascination with how images hold memory and meaning, Clews' work invites viewers into intimate spaces that feel both familiar and elusive.​​
